This post is going to be the first in my journey of documenting "The Road to (finishing and releasing) Deadlock". I cannot thank each of you enough for the support and I really hope that the final novel you receive this May will have been well worth the wait, especially for fans who have been here since the beginning.
By the time Deadlock is released, it will have been nearly thirteen years from the series' conception to its epic conclusion. And funny enough, the release date of Part Three will be exactly eight years after Part Two's release. I must just really love making you all wait! (I just looked it up, and apparently, The Hunger Games books had their release run from 2008-2020, spanning almost twelve years!
To be honest with you all, I cannot believe how far things have come since this series began.
It all started in the summer of 2010, and then it finally hit the Amazon storefront in December 2014 and again in May 2015, only five months later! The first version of Ultimate Edition came out in June 2017.
Other books of mine, not part of this series, have also come: May 2017 and April 2020.
So many things have happened that it's almost impossible to recap them all. In my last post back in January, I mentioned that every single one of my books was going to receive a facelift of sorts. Up to now, they all have, and their new and improved looks have beautifully categorized them (either as part of the main-line series or not) and I am just so happy every day that I went through and made that decision.
They were done by my friend, Adeel, who lives in Pakistan and who I met on Fiverr while trying to get the facelift process started. He redid the cover designs for each one of my books, including those not in the mainline series. His page is linked here if you want to check him out: Adeel's Fiverr Page
If you have not yet had the chance to see these facelifts, let me just show you the new iconic version of all three Dino-Hunters books. They really do look like they are part of a larger story with these new covers.
Don't they just look more epic and amazing than ever before? It is all thanks to Adeel and his amazing design and creativity. Please go check out his page and show him your support. And, if you're looking for a cover to be made for your own book, work with him! You will be astounded by his flexibility and the final product produced. I know I sure was and still am to this day.
As far as my personal life goes, I am still working hard in my studies in college here at BYU. I recently started the fourth year of my computer engineering degree, and I have a little over two years left to go (hoping to graduate in Spring 2025). This semester has been full of its own ups and downs, and to be honest, I considered shutting down production again for Deadlock indefinitely because of some personal family emergencies and mental health challenges.
Despite things being less than ideal, I also recently started a personal fitness journey with a good friend of mine as my trainer. As I've been working towards accomplishing goals to make my body and mind feel better and right, it's made me look back on goals left unaccomplished. I won't lie to you guys: other than the facelifts, there hasn't been much progress in the overall current content of Deadlock's pages. Starting today, and over the course of the next several weeks, that will completely change.
Because I am shooting for a May 1st release, I will need to have the last two-thirds of this book written, formatted, proofread, and edited in about 24 weeks. Thankfully, I have done that before. After the first Dino-Hunters book was released on December 11, 2014, I immediately began outlining ideas and basic drafts for the sequel. Within five months, with all I had going on as a high school sophomore at the time, Part Two was released on May 1st, 2015, just 20 weeks later.
I know this can be done, and it will take a tremendous amount of effort and time to accomplish this goal. This is what the series deserves, and this is what all of you, fans young and old, from the beginning or who have just joined, deserve; to see this incredible journey through to the end.
So, to make this a reality, a few things are going to need to happen:
First, I will need to get off my butt and brush off the cobwebs on notes about the remaining story of the book. I already have ideas for every remaining chapter, I just need to get them written down in full form and in an excellent, captivating way.
Second, I will need your help (yes, all of you) to keep me accountable. My goal is to write one of these blogs either once a month or twice a month to give updates about how the book is progressing. These posts may also include exclusive teases of character designs, chapter names, notes about the production schedule, or even behind-the-scenes secrets about the series as a whole! You really won't wanna miss these posts. They will be announced on my Instagram, @thedhcreatorbooks, and the link to the article/post will be here. Those will always be here, but please give me a follow on Instagram if you haven't already!
Third, and lastly of all, I want this to be so much fun. I have been out of the writing loop for a while because life has thrown so much my way. It's done that to all of us over the last several years, and this is something that I want to be exciting for people.
I want new fans to come and join the series, I want fans who never knew the future of Part 3 to be able to find it and get hyped once more, and I want the payoff to be very satisfying when all is said and done. I believe that with your help spreading the word about this series to your friends and loved ones, they will come to see why I am so passionate and they will (hopefully) love what I've written and want even more.That has always been my determination from even the early days: to show people what I'm capable of and what I'm passionate about in a powerful way that moves them to pursue what they love and hope to accomplish and become.
Dino-Hunters is back. Deadlock is coming. And I can't wait to show you what comes next.
